Obituary

CHICOPEE – Claire Y. Laflamme, 81, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, November 7, 2021. She passed into Eternal Life at the Hillcrest Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Pittsfield surrounded by all the memories that she loved and cherished. She was born at home on Pennsylvania Avenue in the Willimansett section of Chicopee on November 1, 1940, a beloved daughter of the late Ernest Laflamme, Sr. and Antoinette (Lavoie) Laflamme. She was raised in Chicopee, attended local schools and was a lifelong resident of the city. She was a communicant of the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Willimansett. Following the closing of her parish, she became a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville. Claire was a gentle soul who dearly loved her family and her many friends. During her leisure time, she enjoyed playing dominoes with her friends and solving word puzzles. Claire was known for her generosity and gave out many good luck pennies to her family and friends. She leaves her loving brothers, Ernest Laflamme, Jr. and his wife, Claire, of Chicopee, Leonard E. Laflamme of Granby, Noel G. Laflamme and his companion, Georgianna Adams, of Chicopee and Richard Laflamme and his wife, Debra, of Chicopee; her loving sister, MaryJane Wall of Chicopee; her loving brother-in-law, William G. Schnauber of Meadville, PA; her loving sister-in-law, Gabrielle (Fontaine) Laflamme of Chicopee; and her many cherished nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, cousins, friends and extended family members. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving brother, Normand Laflamme; her loving sisters, Lillian Marie Laflamme, Theresa Hortie and Beatrice Schnauber; her loving brother-in-law, Sylvio Hortie; and her loving sisters-in-law, Georgette (Fortin) Laflamme and Phyllis (Lambert) Laflamme. Her funeral will be held on Monday, November 15, 2021 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, November 14, 2021 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Masks are suggested at the Funeral Home, Church and Cemetery. Her family requests that memorial donations be made in her memory to Saint Joan of Arc School, 587 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
