Mary T. Burgess, age 94, of Forest Hills, Jamaica Plain, passed away on November 7, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Daniel and Sarah (Doherty) Burgess. She was raised in the Forest Hills neighborhood of Boston and was a graduate of Mission High School and Simmons College. Mary was a research chemist and worked in the laboratory of Dr. Milas at MIT, at Polaroid in Cambridge and at the Army Materials Laboratory in Watertown. She was president of the Simmons Alumnae Association and the Northeast chapter of the American Chemical Society. She was active in the St. Vincent de Paul Society for many years. Mary was also a talented pianist. In her retirement years, Mary tutored math and science to students at Bunker Hill Community College. She was preceded in death by her siblings, the late Catherine Luvisi and the late Dr. Daniel Burgess. She leaves her siblings Sara Burgess of West Roxbury and Margaret Burgess of Canton. She also leaves nieces Mary T. Luvisi (William Sterritt) of Cape May, New Jersey, Kathleen A. Luvisi, Sara J. Luvisi, and Margaret E. Luvisi, all of Waltham, Roseanne P. Luvisi (Lauren Downing) of Weymouth, and Susan E. Duffy (Darren) of Dorchester; and grand-nephews Anthony Luvisi and Reilly Sterritt. Funeral from the Brady & Fallon Funeral Home, 10 Tower St. (Opp. Forest Hills MBTA Station) Jamaica Plain on Friday November 12 at 9 am, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Jamaica Plain at 10 am. relatives and friends are invited to attend.
