Phyllis Elaine (Sloan) Dilts, 86, went to her heavenly home on Nov. 3, 2021, at Community Hospital.
She was born to the late Leonard and Delores (Doty) Sloan on June 13, 1935, in Buck Prairie, Illinois.
Phyllis was a devoted member of South Meridian Church of God in Anderson. There, she served as a Sunday school teacher and after-school helper for countless children spanning many years, and worked as a leader in Women of the Church of God. Phyllis married Jackie “Jack” Dilts on March 9, 1963. Phyllis was a wonderful and giving sister, wife, mother, and grandmother to her family.
Phyllis always loved God’s great outdoors, learning about nature, taking hikes in Mounds State Park, exploring caves, and traveling all over the U.S. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, reading, and watching sports of all kinds.
Phyllis is survived by her sons, Keith (Carol) Dilts of Perrysville and Paul Dilts of Indianapolis; two grandchildren, Rachel (Tim) Peyton of Crawfordsville and Ethan Dilts of Perrysville; one great-granddaughter, Zoey Peyton of Crawfordsville; one sister, Sherry Sloan (Burnis Piper) of Lawrenceville, Illinois, her brother-in-law, John Summers; nieces, Carol (Dilts) Brewster, Melody (Summers) Hull, Gayle (Murphy) Clark, Carol and Linda Murphy; nephews, Meredith Summers and Dan Murphy.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack; her parents, Leonard and Delores; her sister, Annette Murphy; sisters-in-law, Celia Mae Dilts, Katherine Summers and Jeannie Brumfield; brothers-in-law, Willis Dilts and Dean Brumfield; nephew, Monte Dean Summers and a niece, Julie (Brumfield) Franklin.
A celebration of life honoring Phyllis will be held at South Meridian Church of God, 2402 Meridian Street, Anderson on Saturday, November 13 with visitation from 2-3 pm and a memorial service immediately following. Pastor Steven Wimmer will be officiating.
