Claudette G. (Dumas) Jalbert, 89 years young, passed away peacefully at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on Thursday, November 4, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of the late retired Salem Firefighter, Laurent O. Jalbert, with whom she shared 48 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Arsene H. and Imelda (Bosse) Dumas. She was predeceased by her brother Roland Dumas and close cousin Rose Dumas.
As a young woman, and prior to her marriage to the love of her life, she worked for the Registry of Deeds in Salem. Laurent and stay at home Mom Claudette devoted their lives to the care and upbringing of their young family. After Laurent retired, they enjoyed family summers at their place in Ossipee, NH, as well as wonderful Christmas and holiday gatherings with family and friends. She loved music, especially classical, and enjoyed playing piano. In her spare and quiet time she loved to knit. Claudette was a member of St. Anne’s Parish for many years.
She is survived by four daughters; Suzanne Young and husband Bruce of Southampton, Diane Jalbert of Pepperell, Janet Kelleher and husband Michael of Alton Bay, NH, Lisa Courtney and husband William of Amesbury, and son Richard Jalbert and wife Katherine of Exeter, NH, as well as ten grandchildren, Lauren (Kelleher) Gill and husband Joseph, Jason Young and wife Megan, Jonathan Young and wife Tara, Sean Kelleher and wife Marissa, Emily Jalbert, Julianna Varga, Liam Courtney, Erin Jalbert, Thomas Jalbert, Cailyn Courtney and seven great-grandchildren, Julian, Theo, Brielle, Brady, Callan, Anna and Nolan. She also leaves sisters-in-law Constance Dumas and Judith Jalbert, brother-in-law Gilbert Chouinard and many nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to her calling hours at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., [ Route 114 / 1-A] Salem on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, November 10th at 11:00 A.M in St. Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem, followed by her burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Salem.
