Obituary

Scott Franz Schramm, 58, of Noank, passed away peacefully November 3, 2021, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital with his wife by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer and complications from stroke. Scott Schramm was born February 1963 in New London to Ruth O. and Otto F. Schramm Jr. He attended Groton Public Schools including Grasso Technical High School, graduating in 1981. He received his associate’s from Mitchell College (1985) and his bachelor’s from the University of New Haven (1987). He worked as a Technical Aide at Electric Boat for 18 years, leaving to pursue a career as a developer/builder, building spec and custom homes.
He was married to his college sweetheart, Jocelyn (Melzar) Schramm, for more than 32 years. Scott took great pride in his family and work, loved classic cars and hot rods, fishing, Outlaw Country, Southern rock music and keeping up on local affairs. He is survived by his wife Jocelyn, sons Gunnar, Bowen and Hunter, sisters Deborah (husband James), Paula (husband Kevin), and Beth (husband Sean), sister-in laws Victoria, (husband John) and Frederica, brother-in-laws Steven, Alan, and Jonathan, (wife Christina) as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, in-laws, Frederic and Jean Melzar, sister-in-law Alexandra, brother-in-law Eugene.
The Schramm family would like to give a thank you to all the compassionate and caring medical workers and staff of Smilow Cancer Center of Waterford, as well as Lawrence + Memorial Hospital of New London, who cared for Scott. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any of the American Heart, Cancer, and/or Stroke Association(s) or a charity of your choice.
A private graveside service is to be held for family members, with an open house celebration of Scott’s life taking place afterwards at Beth & Sean McKeown’s on November 20th, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
