Samuel X. “Sam” Wentzell, 72, of Abington, MA died peacefully in his sleep at his home on November 4.
He was born in Boston, MA June 21, 1949. The son of Robert and Julie Wentzell, brother of Bob (and Rose) Wentzell, Diane (and Boo) Nichols, Fred Wentzell, Maryjo Wentzell, and the late Johnny Wentzell. Loving father to Kelly (and Adam) Robertson and Kimberly (and Jason) Burr and papa to Evan and Isabella (Bella Bean) Robertson and Justin and Riley Burr. Beloved husband of the late Carol DeFranco for 32 years.
He was a jack-of-all trades working as a meat cutter in Boston, a cabbie in Boston, and a self-employed carpenter.
He loved playing music with his many bandmates, the MoJos, NTS, Flintlock, and the Soggy Bottom Band, to name a few.
He served in the US Air Force.
He was very active in the lives of friends and family and with his AA group. Anyone that spent any time with him knew that he had a big heart and a world of knowledge passing on his many “Samisms”.
Family and friends are invited to attend his visiting hours on Monday November 15 from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM with a service to follow at 12:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will be in the Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
