CHICOPEE – Francis “Frank” Stefanik, 70, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, November 5, 2021. He passed away at his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on August 13, 1951, a beloved son of the late Francis C. and Lena (Malinowski) Stefanik. He was raised in Chicopee and was a lifelong resident. He served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Army and attained the rank of Specialist Fourth Class. He received the National Defense Service Medal. In his early years, Frank was an avid camper, boater and fisherman. From a very young age, he was mechanically gifted. He always enjoyed building and repairing things whether it be mechanical, architectural, plumbing, electrical – no matter what. He was also a collector of new and antique machinery and tools. He was an all-round “fix-it guy” for local contractors and his family since his teens and was last employed for many years as a Mechanic and Truck Driver for Chicopee Mason Supplies. Most of all, he enjoyed cooking, barbequing, dining out and hanging out with his many friends, especially around a warm fire. He leaves the love of his life for the past 35 years, Charlene D. Martin of Chicopee; his dear sister, Helen L. Skerritt of Chicopee; his loving daughter, Mandi Stefanik Devine and her husband, Glenn Devine, of Chicopee; Charlene’s daughters, Melanie L. Krodel and her husband, Mark, of East Longmeadow and Leslie A. Gardner of Chicopee; Charlene’s five grandchildren, Casey and Brooke and Ashley, Aaron and Alyssa; two great grandchildren, Jocelyn and Jackson; and his many dear friends.
