WEBSTER - Bernard A. “Bernie” Moisan, 73, formerly of Webster, MA, died in his home in Clayton, NC, on October 31, 2021 due to complications from a stroke.
He leaves his wife of 53 years, Christine (Jurgelewicz) Moisan; a son, John Moisan and his wife Nicole and their children Victor and Claudia of Leicester; two daughters, Lisa Allen and her husband Robert and their son Samuel of Burlington, and Jennifer D’Entremont and her husband John and their children Grace, Jack, and Lucas of Clayton, NC; three sisters, Lorraine Moisan of Taunton, Madeleine Ecker and her husband Christopher of Galax, VA, and Diane Huard and her husband Gerald of Bloomberg, PA and their sons Adam and Andrew; and a brother, Donald Moisan and his wife Barbara of Webster and their sons Donald and Joseph; a sister-in-law, Judith Jurgelewicz of Webster.
Bernie was born on August 21, 1948 in Worcester a son of Joseph A.L. and Virginia R. (Tobie) Moisan. A 1966 graduate of St. Peter's Central Catholic High School in Worcester, he went on to a career in accounting. He worked full-time while attending night school for 8 years to earn his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Worcester State College in 1975 and then his Masters in Business Administration from Anna Maria College in 1980.
Ambitious and dedicated, he worked his way up from being a staff accountant at Iandoli Supermarkets to becoming Chief Financial Officer at OFC/NetOptix where he streamlined financial operations and negotiated a multi-billion dollar acquisition. He went on to provide consulting and business development for multiple international business ventures in Asia for over 8 years. From 2008-2011, he was a civilian contractor in Iraq and Afghanistan, serving as Site Manager for 500 linguists working alongside U.S. armed forces. In 2013, Bernie and Christine retired to Clayton, North Carolina.
Bernie was a perpetual student of life, history, and culture -- enthusiastically traveling and embracing cultures and cuisine from around the world. He loved music and enjoyed playing bass guitar in a country/rock cover band in Massachusetts. He was a loyal New England sports fan.
He especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s performances in sports, theater, and dance. Above all else, he drew strength and inspiration from his family. In true first-born style, he led by example with his dogged work ethic, integrity, and warm sense of humor. He will be dearly missed.
His funeral will be held on Monday, November 15, from the Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School St., Webster, with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb St., Webster. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 14, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
