Obituary

Sgt. Gerard O. "Jerry" Thibault, 90, of Westport, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at home with his family by his side. He was the husband of Collette (Bouchard) Thibault, they shared 66 years of marriage.

Born in Fall River, son of the late Albert and Claudia (Laflamme) Thibault, he was a longtime resident of Westport. A Veteran of the Korean War, he served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army and was a Purple Heart recipient. Prior to retirement, he was the owner / operator of the former Jerry and Son Service Center in Tiverton. He was a Communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport. Mr. Thibault enjoyed racing at Seekonk Speedway in the 1960's and was a NASCAR fan, he was also an avid fisherman. He will be remembered as a jack of all trades, a generous man and a perfectionist, but he will be most remembered for his love of his family.

Including his wife, survivors include a son Allen R. Thibault and his wife Edie of Westport; a daughter: Cheryl Estrella and her husband Mike of Westport; 3 brothers: Omer Thibault of Somerset, Robert Thibault and his wife Evelyn of CT and Maurice Thibault and his wife Jennine of Westport; 2 sisters: Diane Pelletier and Lucille Pelletier, both of FL; 3 grandchildren: Josh Thibault and his wife Chapin of Dartmouth, Justin Estrella and his wife Ryan of Westport and Amanda Carvalho and her husband Jason; 7 great grandchildren: Kendra, Mason and Logan Thibault, Selina Estrella, Zachary and Alex Desmarais and Cameron Carvalho; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Albert Thibault and Doris Ragonesi.

Funeral to which relatives and friend are invited will be Tuesday, November 9, 2021 from the Potter Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.

Calling hours will be Monday, from 5-8 P.M.

Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, State House - Room 546, Boston, MA 02133.
