Obituary

Thomas Michael Haynes 61, of Franklin died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, November 2nd. Born in Milford, January 18,1960, he was the son of the late Donald and Cecilia (Perda) Haynes. Tom was raised and lived in Hopedale before moving to Franklin, where he has resided for over 25 years.
Tom was a graduate of Hopedale High School and obtained his BS in Marketing from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. His dedication to being a real estate professional began early in his career and he was the founder (1988) and owner of PMT Real Estate and the Property Management Team in Hopedale.
He is survived by his sons Michael T. and Jason P. Haynes of Franklin and their mother, Michelle (James) Haynes. Tom is also survived by his siblings, Katherine Cunningham of Milford; and Steven Haynes and his wife Kathleen of Hopedale. He was the brother of the late Donald Haynes Jr and the beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Tom played sports as a youth and he shared his father’s love for baseball, having had his dad as coach and mentor for many years. Tom also had a passion for golf that started when he was 11 years old and this lead him to be a member of Hopedale High School’s golf team. He continued this passion for the next 50 years playing at courses across the country. He was a lifetime member of Hopedale Country Club where he enjoyed playing in tournaments and making friendly wagers with his friends.
He loved to travel and it was something that he did with his family and friends as often as he could. Tom’s love for music was evident in his following of the Grateful Dead band which he saw in concert many times throughout the country. His connection to the lyrics, their live concerts, and their following brought him great joy as well as many friendships and wonderful memories over the years.
Tom will be remembered for his love of his family, his generosity, and willingness to lend a helping hand whenever he could. His sense of humor and laughter will be missed by all who knew him.
Calling hours will be on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the Ginley Funeral Home in Franklin, MA.
His funeral mass will be held on Monday, November 8th in St. Mary’s Church in Franklin at 10:00. Burial at the Hopedale Village Cemetery will be private at the convenience of the family
