Obituary

Richard J. Sullivan, of Medford, formerly of Somerville, November 2nd. Beloved husband of Rosalie (Carine) Sullivan. Loving father of Susan Sullivan and her husband Bruce Davis of Farmville, Virginia, Robin Dooling and her husband Gregg of Medford, Michael Sullivan of Medford and the late Michele Sullivan. Cherished grandfather of Matthew and Colleen and Brianna and her husband Antonio. Loving great grandfather of Arabella and Serafina. Dear brother of Russell Sullivan and his wife Marilyn of Tewksbury, Ann Meehan of Worcester and the late Eleanor Riselli, Theresa Connell and John, James, Paul and Mary Sullivan. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. Richard was raised and educated in Somerville. He served his country honorably as a soldier in the United States Army. For 39 years, he worked as a crane operator for the International Union of Operating Engineers, Union Local 4 in Boston. Richard was a faithful parishioner at Immaculate Conception Parish in Malden where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, as a member of Tobit’s Tribe and as a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a longtime active member of the Irish American Association in Malden, the Arlington Men’s Club and the Malden Catholic Lancers Association. He enjoyed the local Boston sports teams, especially the Boston Red Sox and he was a lifelong fan of Notre Dame Football. The beach was his favorite place to be, especially in Naples, Florida and in York, Maine. First and foremost, he was a family man who enjoyed the company of family and friends. Relatives & friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Tuesday November 9th at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 10 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday November 8th from 4-8 PM.
