Harriet M. Valente, 80

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Harriet M. (Giovino) Valente, age 80, a lifelong resident of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 29, 2021 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of John C. Valente, to whom she was wed for forty-nine years.

Born in Brockton, MA on February 23, 1941, she was a loving daughter of the late Henry E. and Lucy M. (Quintiliani) Valente.


Harriet grew up in town and was educated in Mansfield Public Schools. She was a dedicated homemaker to her adoring family and had also been employed as a warehouse worker at the former Ames Warehouse in the Mansfield Industrial Park.

Harriet’s family and close friends were truly the focal point and essence of her life. When younger, she enjoyed trips to area casinos and will always be remembered for the love and compassion bestowed to the many cats that lived at her house throughout the years.

The Valente family would like to thank the Community Visiting Nurse Agency in Attleboro, especially her occupational therapist Eileen Leduc, for her exceptional kindness, care and friendship to Harriet.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her devoted daughter Janice Weir and her husband Kenneth of Attleboro. She was the cherished grandmother of Justin Weir of Attleboro, Nathan Weir of Attleboro, Brody Weir of Attleboro, Kendra Bradshaw and her husband Scott of Attleboro and great grandmother of 6 great grandchildren. She was the dear sister of Lucille Hosepian of Arizona and Karen Boynton and her husband Lester of Nevada. She is also survived by her best friends Terry and Gerry Wright of Mansfield, Dolly Whitehouse of Franklin, her devoted Goddaughter Dominica Ribeiro and her Joe of Attleboro, as well as her loving nieces and nephews.

Services and burial will be private and visiting hours are omitted.
