Robert V. Amari passed away peacefully at the Courtyard Nursing Home on Tuesday November 2nd. He was 88. Born and raised in Medford, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Anna (Sigismondo) Amari. After graduating from Medford High School where he was captain of the varsity football team, Robert enlisted in the US Army. Achieving the rank of corporal, he was decorated for his service in the Korean War. Robert was a plumber by trade and also enjoyed a long career with the MBTA were he worked as a mechanics and maintenance supervisor. A decent and fun loving man by nature, Robert worked hard to support his family but also knew how to enjoy life. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. He was a big fan of the Red Sox and Patriots, was a member of the Medford Elks, looked forward to Saturday night dinners with family at his favorite restaurants, and enjoyed time at the South End Italian Club in Woburn. He and his beloved wife Frances enjoyed taking their family on trips across the US and Europe. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
The beloved husband of Frances (Pellegrino) Amari, Robert leaves four loving children: Joanne Semenza of Medford and her late husband David, Robert Amari, Jr. of Florida, Lisa Amari Stone and her husband David Stone of Medford and John Amari of Medford. He was a loving papa to David Semenza Jr. and his wife Shauna, and Joseph Semenza. He was a loving Big Papa to Stella Semenza. Robert was the dear brother of the late Peter Amari, Marie Pignone and his twin brother Richard Amari. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Saturday, November 6th from 9:30 -11 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
