John J. McElroy, of Taunton and Chatham, passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021. He is survived by his wife, Diana (Pratt) McElroy, his children Kristoffer McElroy and wife Colleen of Taunton, Tracy McElroy and husband Frankie Benevides of Portland, Oregon, and Katy McElroy and husband Mark O’Neil of Cotuit, along with grandchildren Kayleigh McAllister and husband Branden, Amy Thivierge and husband Ernie, Soleus Smith, the late Kaius Smith, Thalia O’Neil, and Arden O’Neil. John is also survived by his aunt Barbara Simmons of Dighton, Massachusetts.
John was a Registered Nurse. He concentrated his work in the community mental health field. John was an avid fisherman who spent many weekends attending local bass tournaments during his lifetime. John loved music and was a self-taught guitarist. He could be heard humming or whistling his favorite band, The Beatles. John was also an animal lover and could often be found at Chatham ponds with the family dog, Sadie.
