Elizabeth (Beth) Nilsson, 76, of Chestnut Hill, died suddenly on October 15, 2021. She is survived by her beloved sister, Sally Robinson of London, with whom she nurtured a close relationship over the years despite the geographical distance between them. Beth is also survived by many dear cousins and friends.
Born on October 11, 1945 in Hamilton, Massachusetts, Beth was the daughter of the late Alf and Esther (Lawrie) Nilsson. She enjoyed a happy childhood with her loving parents and her older sister Sally in Arlington and Greater Boston. Summers were spent amid much joy and laughter with her North Shore and Swedish cousins, often on her father’s boat in Gloucester, and also included several visits to relatives in Sweden.
Beth’s career as an administrator touched many organizations: Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, the Massachusetts Humane Society, Longview Dell Apartments, and the Women’s City Club of Boston (an institution that many remember fondly).
Beth loved to celebrate. She helped her family and friends plan Christmas parties and birthdays with flair. Beth lived her life with panache, at times seeming larger than life. But she was also the best and closest of friends, bringing wit, much wisdom and even more compassion to her family and friends in times of joy, sorrow, and everyday life. Beth’s family and friends cherished the heartfelt, articulate and loving notes she wrote. She will be dearly missed.
