Rachel A. (Hughes) Wilhoite, 91, of Anderson died on October 30, 2021 at Golden Living Center after an extended illness.
She was born February 2, 1930 in Pendleton, the daughter of Ernest Harvey and Bessie (McCreery) Hughes. She was a homemaker. She worked Campaign Polls on Election Day, Tri State and Kmart. She was a member of V.F.W. Post #662 in Anderson and the Pendleton American Legion. She loved dancing, singing, fishing, mushroom hunting, traveling and enjoyed painting and drawing. She loved all of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her three daughters, Scheerine Rardon and Ginger Watkins both of Anderson and Ronelle (John H.) Orman of Middletown; sister-in-law, Rita Hughes of Anderson; seven grandchildren, Chris (Judy) Johnson, Jill (Terry) Blake, Eric Glover, Zachary Glover, Heather (Brandon) Kitchens, John Patrick Orman and Cory Lee Orman; 14 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William Wilhoite in 1984; nine siblings, two sons-in-law, Jim Rardon and Charlie Watkins.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 5, 2021 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with her cousin, Mike Harvey officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from noon until the 2 p.m. service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to Madison County Humane Society.
