Porter - Charles B. "Charlie" Drowns, 45, of Porter died on October 29, 2021 at Maine Medical Center in Portland after a long battle with complications of covid-19. He was born in Portland on June 8, 1976 the son of Leonard C. and Roxie (Davis) Drowns. He attended local schools and was a 1994 graduate of Sacopee Valley High School. He went on to study at S.M.C.C. where he received an Associates Degree.
Charlie worked for Walker Chevrolet in Kezar Falls as an auto mechanic for 10 years. He later joined his father, Lenny Drowns, at his garage up the road in Porter and eventually took over that business that he operated for the last 11 years.
Charlie had many hobbies including hunting, fishing, snowmobile racing, and grilling food for friends and family. He belonged to the A.P.A. Pool League playing pool in Portland and Windham for many years. He even played pool at the national championships in Las Vegas. He was also an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and enjoyed doing his fantasy football league each season. Above all else he loved spending time with his family, especially his three loving children. Charlie will be sadly missed by his family, all of his customers at the garage and our entire community.
He is predeceased by his father, Lenny Drowns. Surviving are his wife, Susan (LaPoint) Drowns of Porter, his mother, Roxie Drowns of Porter, his grandmother Marguerite Drowns, and his three children: Morgan Drowns and her significant other Erik Lehouillier of Hiram, Blake Drowns and his significant other Nicole Day of Porter and Carly Drowns of Porter.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 6, at 1 p.m. at Sacopee Valley High School in Hiram. A reception will follow at the Kezar Falls Fire Station in Porter.
