Obituary

Loving wife, mother, and grandmother, of Andover MA, passed away with her family by her side on October 28, 2021, at the age of 78.

Phyllis always went the extra mile. From her baking to her long-lasting friendships, to her most important role, being the rock of her family. Phyllis did everything whole heartedly and fussed over the little details to ensure things were not only perfect but special for her loved ones.

Married in 1963 to Anthony Silvestro, Phyllis started a family early on and had four children and seven grandchildren. Over the years, Phyllis and Tony traveled on cruises and visited many interesting places including Australia, New Zealand, and South America. During their travels Phyllis was known for going off the beaten path to walk and collect rocks and seashells.

Phyllis loved long drives with family and friends especially in the White Mountains to see the Fall foliage, watch the cows grazing and corn grow, and admire the old buildings — especially the historic red barn on Rt 5 in NH. Spending weekends at her Loon Mountain home was something she looked forward to doing whenever possible.

In their retirement, Phyllis and Tony enjoyed spending their winters on Marco Island with family and friends.

Phyllis was an accomplished baker and cook, learning to make pies at a young age from her mother Phyllis and aunts Josie and Winnie. She lovingly shared her talents with family and friends. One was lucky to receive hot scones right out of the oven after arriving at Marco Island. Her signature apple pie, sour cream coffee cake, pizza, and baseball-sized meatballs and sauce were renowned in Andover and Marco Island.

Following in their grandmother’s footsteps her granddaughter Nia is baking apple pies and Andrew, her oldest grandson makes grandma’s sauce and meatballs.

Phyllis will be dearly missed by her children and grandchildren; son Mark Silvestro and Cheryl Garbino of Andover and his children Andrew, Jason, and Dereck; daughter Donna Silvestro of NYC, daughter Patricia Perruzzi, her husband Paul and their children Paul and Angelica of Westford; son Christopher Silvestro, his wife Lindsey, and children Nia and Tyler of Sandy, Utah.

Phyllis’s funeral will be held at Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street. Medford, MA, Thursday, November 4 at 9AM, followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated at St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford, MA at 10AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours 4-8 PM Wednesday, November 3, 2021. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Hospital Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 www.stjude.org.
