Guy D. Wheeler, 89

Dateline: Norton, MA

Guy D. Wheeler, age 89, of Norton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at the home of his daughter in Seekonk. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy E. “Dottie” (Robinson) Wheeler, to whom he was wed for nearly sixty-five years at the time of her death on April 26, 2017.

Born in Taunton, MA on January 2, 1932, he was a loving son of the late John A. and Elizabeth A. (Collins) Wheeler.

Guy grew up and was educated in Taunton. During the time of the Korean War, he proudly served his country for four years as a member of the United States Air Force. While serving in the Air Force, he met his future wife Dorothy, also a member of the Air Force, stationed at the same Base in Pennsylvania. The couple were married six months after meeting.

Prior to retiring, Mr. Wheeler had worked in the Mailroom at Wheaton College in Norton and was previously employed in the Shipping Department at the Foxboro Co. He had made his home in Norton for the past fifty-nine years, where he was well known in the community.

Guy was a member of the Chartley United Methodist Church in Norton, the Fillmore-Nason VFW Post #8049 in Norton, was very active at the Norton Senior Center and served as a former Norton Volunteer Firefighter. He loved spending time with his adoring family and in later years was so proud of being a grandfather and great grandfather. While raising his family in Norton, his home was the center of activity for family and friends during the holidays and summers were spent swimming and barbequing in the backyard.

Guy’s family would like to extend a special thanks to June and Peter Morin, Donna Collins and Steve, Joanne and Phillip Petrelli, the staff at Brookdale Assisted Living and Hope Health Hospice for all their care and kindness.

Mr. Wheeler is survived by his devoted daughters: Pamela Lange and her husband Mike of Attleboro, Patricia Chu and her husband Gary of Seekonk and Penny Hahn and her husband William of Wells, Maine. He was the cherished grandfather of Christopher Chu and his wife Angel, Nathan Lange and his significant other Alicia, Timothy Chu and his wife Heather, Lauren Darling and her husband Kyle, William Jack Hahn and his girlfriend Autumn and the late Joshua Lange, who is survived by his wife LauraLee. He was the loving great grandfather of Ethan, Julianne, Lukas, Mason, London, Mya, Addison and Cameron. He was the dear brother of the late John Paul Wheeler and is also survived by his loving cousins, nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, November 6th from 11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.

His funeral service will be held at the conclusion of visiting hours at 1:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow at the Timothy Plain Cemetery in Norton.

In lieu of flowers, Guy’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Norton VFW, 38 Summer Street, Norton, MA 02766 or the Norton Fire Department, 70 East Main Street, Norton, MA 02766.
