Obituary

STANDISH – David Orrin St. Peter, Sr. 81 of Standish, died peacefully of cancer on Monday, October 25, 2021, with his daughter Jo, lovingly by his side.

David was born in Waterville and grew up in Portland, Maine, the eldest son of Gladys and Orrin St. Peter.

David was a long-time mechanic, plumber, and antique car enthusiast. He was happiest tinkering in the garage on his street rod. He took immense pride in winning trophies for his street rods at car shows and relating his adventures with the Back Forty antique car and Downeast Street Rod Clubs to his family. David enjoyed his time with Nancy and having his children and grandchildren all together with a meal of his favorites: fried clams, lobster, and Jordan’s red hot dogs. David is lovingly remembered for his often colorful and animated stories, his hearty laugh, and sense of humor.

David and Nancy are dearly missed by their friends and family, and they will forever live on in their hearts.

The family would like to gratefully thank the caregivers at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House who tended for David in his final days and the Southern Maine Hospice staff, especially Lynn, who compassionately cared for both David and Nancy over the years at their home together where they wanted to be.

David was predeceased by his loving wife Nancy (Baade) St. Peter, his parents, and son, Peter Lanese III.

David is survived by his children: Sandra Ouellette and her husband Stephen of Scarborough, Nicole Mac Dermott and her husband Kevin of Dublin, Ireland, Jo St. Peter-Scott and her wife Michelle of Auburn, David O. St. Peter, Jr. and his wife Kim of Walnut Creek CA. Grandchildren; Anthony Abbott of Stuart, FL, Ted Abbott and his wife Lindsay of Buxton, Niamh and Sorcha Mac Dermott of Dublin, Ireland, Quinn and Tia St. Peter-Scott of Auburn, Orrin and Romolo St. Peter of Walnut Creek, CA; great granddaughter, Arianna Abbott of Buxton, his four siblings, and many nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a private graveside service in remembrance of David and Nancy at a later date.
