CHICOPEE – Lynne (Stefanik) Metras, 69, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, October 22, 2021. She passed into Eternal Life at Highview of Northampton surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Springfield on February 27, 1952, a beloved daughter of the late John L. Stefanik and Joan E. (LaBare) Hamel. She was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee High School and had lived on Cape Cod and South Lawrence before returning to Chicopee where she lived the remainder of her life. She received an Associate’s Degree in Nursing and was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse for local nursing homes. Lynne was an avid New York Yankees and New England Patriots fan, enjoyed shopping, spending time with “her” dogs, taking care of the squirrels in her yard and relaxing at the ocean on the Cape. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She leaves her two loving children, Joshua M. Metras of West Springfield and Heather M. Rusiecki of Springfield; her six cherished grandchildren, Evan Fenn, Brandon Metras, Ben Metras, Tyler Freitag, Justin Burgen and Ari Burgen; her dear sister and brother-in-law, Donna L. Majka and her husband, Chester, of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. which will be followed by a Prayer Service at 11:30 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Please note that masks are recommended for her services.
