Obituary




Murray K. Power passed away peacefully at the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston after a long illness. He was 76. Born in Revere and raised there and in Winthrop, Murray was the son of the late Aurie and Hannah (Crooks) Power. After graduating from high school, Murray enlisted in the US Army and served in the Vietnam War with distinction, earning among other decorations: the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.

After his honorable discharge, Murray embarked on a 31 year career with Delta Airlines as a ramp man. After his retirement, Murray, not one to be idle, worked construction for the Moriarty Co. for 10 years. He later worked as a shuttle driver with Partners Health Care. Murray and his beloved wife Fran enjoyed the benefit of easy travel, and loved visiting some of their favorite destinations throughout the United States. A big fan of the New England Patriots, Murray was at his happiest enjoying time together with his family and many friends.

The beloved husband of Fran (Savickas) Power, Murray was a devoted father to Joseph Power and his wife Gretchen of Westford. He was a loving “Papa Murray” to Jacob and Reese. He was a dear brother to the late Reginald Power, Betty LoIacono, Shirley Green and Marjorie Roy. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews and many dear brothers and sisters in law.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Tuesday November 2nd from 3 – 7 PM with a funeral service and military honors at 6:30 PM.
