Rita (Bousquet) McCarthy, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, October 27th at the Willows Health Center where she resided for the past several years. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Bob of 65 years. She leaves two sons, Kevin Paul and Tracey Treadway of Atlanta, GA, and Robert James of New Hampshire; a daughter, Dr. Maureen O’Rourke and her husband, Dr. Kenneth O’Rourke of Maine; 9 grandchildren; a great-grandchild who brought her great pride and joy: Daniel, Kelly, Sean and his wife Kelsey and their son Liam, Kathleen “Katie”, Brendan, Delaina, Seana, Kerry, Patrick, and numerous devoted nieces and nephews.
Rita was born in Worcester, a lifelong resident, the daughter of Harry and Blanche (Roy) Bousquet. She studied at both Classical and Commerce High Schools.
Her greatest interest was her family. She was the quintessential wife and homemaker. Her pride and joy was her family life and she was especially close to Bob’s sisters and sisters-in-law. Her happiest moments were spent at Cape Cod with Bob, just enjoying the simple things together. She lamented his passing greatly and never stopped mourning.
The family wishes to thank devoted cousins and friends who provided unending support over these past difficult years. We would also like to extend special thanks to Rita’s caregivers at The Willows most especially Maria, Sophie, Shirley, and the entire hospice team. They are also grateful to Minnie Laborde whose friendship meant the world to Rita.
Family and friends who would like to pay their respects may do so on Monday, November 1st from 9:45 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street followed by her funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Saint John’s Cemetery.
