James "Jimmy" McLaughlin, a 35 year resident of Medford and formerly of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 70 years of age.
Jimmy was born in Peterborough, England on August 9, 1951 a son of the late Edward McLaughlin and Elizabeth (Rogers) McLaughlin both formerly of County Donegal, Ireland. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School System. Jimmy worked as a Laborer and was a member of The Laborers Union Local #223 for 50 years. He enjoyed reading, taking cruises to Bermuda, and watching his grandchildren play sports.
Jimmy is the loving 40 year companion of Cindy O'Brien. He is the devoted father of Boston Fire Department Lieutenant James “Jamie” McLaughlin and his wife Toni Ann, Boston Police Officer Shannon Fabiano and her husband Boston Police Officer Stephen, and Courtney Poole and her husband Jamie. He is the loving Papa to Nolan, Jamie, Michael, Stephen, Abigail, Peyton, and Matthew. He is the beloved twin brother of Neil McLaughlin and his companion Eileen McDonald, and brother of Patrick McLaughlin and his late wife Ann, Edward McLaughlin and his wife Pauline, Colleen Sweeney and her husband Kevin, and the late Mary Dillon and her husband Bernie. He is the dear friend of John Inglese. He is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jimmy’s Funeral on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 10 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 11 A.M. His burial is private. His visiting hours will be on Friday, October 29, 2021 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
