Marie Josee Veillard- Sam was born on March 31,1942 in Port-au-Prince Petion-Ville Haiti. She was the only child of the late Marguerite Veillard and Justin Sam. Marie had lived in Petion-Ville with her parents and many family members. Marie attended school in Haiti until she graduated from Fernand eros proper.mShe then migrated to the states in her early thirties and eventually settled in Boston. While living in Mass she continued her education attending and graduating from Roxbury Community College. Marie then began a career as an Interpreter at Cambridge Hospital working there for over 15 years, in that career she was able to help many being their advocate during a time in need.
In 1983 with her son Kunta they moved to Miami Beach, Florida. Marie started a new career in social work for the Judicial System, working closely with the Florida Police Department. They resided in Florida for many years, surrounded by many families and friends. On October 26, 2021 Marie surrounded by her loved ones went home to be with the Lord after a long battle of health complications. Although we are sad that she has gone, she is not suffering any longer and is at peace.
Marie leaves behind a host of family members and friends, her only son Kunta, Simeon, her grandchildren Kiara, Kohan and Khari. Sisters Yolene Bazin, Maggie Sam, and Gldys Sam.
Her God children Mario Veillard and family Jacquie Veillard and family, Ashley Bellevue and family, and Elodie Duverneau.
Her cousin Carrier Veillard, Venus Duverneau, Claudette Duverneau-Moyse, Guy Moyse, Rosila Duverneau and family, Cazulda Petit-Homme and family, Pierre and Erna Jaque and family.
