Kathy Davis Douglass, 64, of Londonderry, NH, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 22, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Durham, NC, on June 25, 1957, a daughter of the late Edward Harrison Davis and Dorothy "Dot" Merritt Davis. Kathy had been a resident of Londonderry, NH, for the past 23 years, formerly living in Durham, NC.
Kathy enjoyed growing up in Durham, NC, as part of a tight-knit family and neighborhood where she formed life-long friendships. She graduated from C E Jordan High School in 1975 and attended Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. Soon after, Kathy began her 20-year career with Nortel Networks in Research Triangle Park, NC, met her husband, J. Sherwood Douglass, at Nortel. The company transferred the couple from North Carolina to New Hampshire in 1998, and Kathy fell in love with everything about the new state she called home. While in Durham, NC, Kathy was a member of Triangle Presbyterian Church (now Triangle Grace Church). In Londonderry, NH, she was a member of the Orchard Christian Fellowship. In 2002 Kathy took the opportunity to go back to school and earned her degree in Nursing. She truly enjoyed caring for her patients and getting to know them, and learning their stories. Kathy retired as an RN Case Manager with St. Joseph's Home & Hospice Care.
Kathy was an avid reader, gardener and enjoyed crafting. Most importantly, she spent time keeping in touch with family and friends and will always be remembered for her generous affirmations of love and appreciation for each person. Kathy will also be remembered for her southern hospitality, making everyone who entered her home feel like family. Her greatest role was that of Nana to her two precious grandchildren, Ayden and Maddie. She was so proud of them, loved them unconditionally, and treasured the time she spent with them.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, J. Sherwood Douglass; her son, Blake Sherwood Douglass (Madeline); her grandchildren, the lights of her life, Ayden Phillip Douglass and Madilyn Louise Douglass; her mother, Dorothy "Dot" Davis; her brother, Michael Davis (Alice); and her sister, Diane Detweiler (Dale); and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Triangle Grace Church, 5001 Tudor Place, Durham, NC 27713. It was Kathy's wish to be cremated. A private scattering of her ashes will take place at a later date.
