Eileen M. Smith, a Medford resident for most of her life passed away unexpectedly Sunday, October 24, 2021, at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was 75. Born in Medford, Eileen was one of six children of the late Richard J. and Elizabeth (Law) Farren.
Eileen was raised and educated in Medford and was a graduate of St. Joseph High School in Somerville. She worked for many years as a receptionist and secretary at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear. In her leisure time she enjoyed crocheting and sharing her creations with family and friends, she was an avid reader, and loved watching her favorite game shows on television, "Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune". However, her greatest joy was her family and nothing made her happier than to be with those she loved.
Eileen is the devoted mother of Joseph Meyer and his wife Beth of Austin, TX, Anthony Meyer and his wife Kelly Bigler of Tewksbury, and the late Laura Jean Meyer. Loving grandmother of Maxwell, Rylee and Zachary Meyer, Amanda Garcia and her husband Gabe, Laura-Donna Meyer, Anthony Meyer and his wife Ami. Loving great grandmother of Lilliana, Steven, Carlos and Isabella. Longtime loving companion of Paul Smith of Medford. Cherished sister of twin Kathleen Eastman and her husband Richard of Tewksbury, Patricia Lapham and her husband Harry of New York City, Monica Palladino and her husband Patrick of Tewksbury, Dick Farren and his companion Marybeth Smith of Lowell, the late Margaret "Magee" Iacopucci and her surviving husband Frank of Medford. She is further survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours at the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Friday, October 29th, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be private. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Eileen's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memorials Processing, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
