Obituary

Jean Periode Dorisca was born on March 15,1942 in Gros Morne, Haiti to Melanise Julien & Cham Dorisca. He is the 3rd child out of 13 children born to the pair. They were a close, tight knit family and loved each other dearly. He left the home at 17 years old to attend a trade school in Gonaives, Haiti for carpentry. During this time period, he also became a barber and owned a barbershop. He remained in Gonaives until he left for America in 1972.
Upon entering the US, he lived with a myriad of friends from the First Haitian Baptist Church who loved him and supported him until he was able to transition to living on his own. Frere Dodo expressed a number of times that although he had a Church family, he felt lonely and missed his family back home. His brother Calixte Dorisca migrated to the US and joined him in 1979 and he started to feel whole again.
Shortly after, he met a beautiful young woman by the name of Marie Roseau and he quickly made her his wife. Together they had 2 daughters named Lenie and Penode. Periode obtained his high school diploma , worked at Carney Hospital as a patient escort, and later owned an Insurance Agency with his brothers Calixte and Roosevelt Dorisca for the rest of his career.
Pepe was an avid member of his church and dedicated his time, money, and life to preaching the gospel of Christ to others. He also spent most of his time in Christian prayer and meditation. His reputation preceded him and he was legendary in his Church community .
In 2009, his beloved wife of 27 years passed away from cancer. This was a life changing event. A couple of months later, Pepe had a massive stroke that should have left him incapacitated. Instead, he drove himself to Church, attended services and then drove himself to the hospital at the prompting of his friends. Doctors called his resilience a miracle and could not believe that he was still standing, much less driving himself around!
Pepe recovered and then moved to FL. It was his life long dream to live in FL and he was happy to leave Boston and move somewhere warm. He spent 5 years in fellowship with his friends and other Church members before moving back to Boston with his sister Bertha.
On June 26, Pepe suffered another massive stroke that caused a major brain bleed to the other side of his brain. This stroke was the beginning of the end for our Brother, Father and Friend. Even as the doctors gave him a poor prognosis and his body rejected food, his spirit fought for 4 months to remain with his family and friends. He was called a miracle case, once again, because he went 55 days without food or nutrition, but wouldn’t give up. The doctors and nurses called him a hero and said he would be a legend in that hospital.
On October 19th 2021, Pepe was peacefully called home to his Lord and Savior. He will be mourned and greatly missed by all the lives that he has touched in his short time on earth.
Periode is survived by his 2 children Lenie & Penode. His surviving brothers and sisters are Bertha, Calixte, Roosevelt, Marie Drinette, Chinaude, and Wandlyn. He is also survived by his grandchildren Khamary, Geovany, Gabi, Nicolas, Jacob, Anabella, Liliana, and Nathan. He has many nieces and nephews including RuShama, Mirma, Prisca, Chedline, Loudes and many others living in different states throughout the US and Haiti. He also has many extended family member and friends whom he considered family in Christ.
We will always remember his beautiful smile, his cheerful laugh, his passion for Christ and his giving nature.
