Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our family member Jeanne Marie McConnon, 73, of Braintree, MA formerly of the South End of Boston. Jeanne passed away in the comfort and love of her family on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 after battling a very long illness.

Jeanne was one of ten children who adored her loving and hard-working parents. A pillar of her family, she was an amazing daughter, sister and aunt who gave so much. She had an infectious laugh and kind, warm words for everyone. She loved spoiling her nieces and nephews when they were young and continued to be a big part of their lives giving unconditional love, encouragement and was always available as a confidant. Jeanne was a quiet symbol of strength, a symbol of kindness, had an impeccable work ethic, and it was always about family. She relished spending time with her siblings, enjoyed traveling, initiating family group trips, and celebrating her 50th in Vegas and her 60th in Nashville.

In the last days we witnessed the love in the room. It was loud, our family was never quiet, and nothing was ever “small.” We managed to laugh for a moment, too many tears to count and then we were all ok with just being together and being quiet. What a tribute to you, to who you are, and where you come from. Your parents, your siblings and who we are as a family. We hold on tight to one another and you always reminded us that we all matter. In the last days she was giving advice on how to deal with the challenging days ahead. In honor of you, we will work hard, we will love, we will be kind, we will give to those who need a little more and we will live the best life to be had.

Jeanne is predeceased by her mother Mary Elizabeth (Raftery) McConnon and father John Marshall McConnon and brothers John and Kenny. Jeanne is survived by her sisters Joanne Howard of Saugus, Janice Spence of Lexington, and brothers: William of Braintree, Gerald, Stephen and Patrick of Boston, and George of Columbus, Nebraska.

Jeanne will be remembered fondly and forever by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand nephews, and cousins.

In honor of our loved one, we hope you take a quiet moment to reflect on the life she lived and the symbolism she embedded into the fibers of our family and friends. Her loss is grand, and she will be deeply missed.

In Lieu of a public service, a scholarship fund has been established in Jeanne’s memory for the youngest of the McConnon clan, 4-year-old Noah McConnon of Lincoln, Nebraska. Contributions can be sent to: Heather McConnon, 2535 South 39th Street, Lincoln, NE 68506.
