Helen A. “Snooky” Hayes, 91, lifelong resident of Whitman, MA passed away peacefully on October 23.
Born in Brockton, MA in 1930, she was the daughter of the late Charles Hayes and Helen M. (Morton) Hayes, sister to the late Joseph Hayes.
She was a graduate of Whitman High School, Class of 1948, retired Bank Executive and Vice President of the former Whitman Savings Bank.
In her retirement, she could often be seen at Monday Night Bingo at the Whitman K of C. She loved her trips with the Whitman Senior Center and was an avid Red Sox Fan. She enjoyed reading, crafts, knitting and family.
Aunt Snooky is survived by her nephew Michael Hayes of Portland ME and Germaine Hayes of Newmarket, NH, niece Joelle VonGeorge and her husband Rick VonGeorge of Cape Carteret, NC, niece Janine Kaplinger and fiancé Dave Tamara of E. Bridgewater, MA as well as eight great nieces and nephews and a great great niece and a great great nephew.
Family and friends are invited to attend her visiting hours on Thursday October 28 from 3:00-5:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman and her funeral service on Friday at 9:45 AM from the Chapel, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 AM in the Holy Ghost Church. Burial will be in the St. Patrick Cemetery, Rockland.
