M. Kathleen McCarthy, 74, passed away on October 20, 2021 after a very short but hard fought battle with leukemia. She was the daughter of the late Daniel E. and Violet V. (Hockney) McCarthy.
Ms. McCarthy was a long time resident of Newton, NH. She was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy, Tyngsborough, MA and Newton College of the Sacred Heart (now Boston College) in Newton, MA. Kathie was a fun loving spirit who loved the ocean and time with her friends and family. After college, she spent many years living in the NH Seacoast area enjoying “life at the beach”, claiming she wanted to “enjoy her retirement while she was young!”. Over a decade later she would begin her successful 40 year career in the real estate business, eventually becoming a respected commercial real estate appraiser for over 25 years with Santander Bank in Boston and Minco Development Corporation in North Andover, MA. She maintained lifelong friendships with her “sisters” from high school and college, often traveling across the country for visits.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Jo McCarthy of Newton, NH; her brothers, John McCarthy of Haverhill, MA, and Jeremiah McCarthy and his wife, Susan of Homosassa, FL, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Daniel E. McCarthy, Jr..
On Wednesday, October 27, 2021 all are welcome to attend her calling hours from 2-4 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. at McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, MA 978-458-6816.
You are welcome to gather for her funeral on Thursday, October 28 at the funeral home between 10-10:30 a.m. for her funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Procession will follow for burial at St. Patrick Cemetery in Lowell.
