Obituary

US Army Pfc. George R. Roehl Jr., 21, of Manchester, NH, was killed April 11, 2006 in Taji, Iraq while on patrol outside of Baghdad.

He was born in Manchester, NH, on January 24, 1985, the son of George R. Roehl and Betty A. Vezina. He attended Hallsville School, Southside Junior High School, and was a 2003 graduate of Franklin High School.

George loved reading and taught himself to read before he entered school. He had a great sense of humor and excelled at video games.

Family members include his father, George R. Roehl of Bridgewater, NH; his mother, Betty A. Vezina of Manchester; a step-mother, Nancy Nason-Roehl of Bridgewater; brothers, Benjamin Roehl and Steven Roehl, both of Manchester; sisters, Sarah and Breanna Roehl, both of Manchester; step-sisters, Karen Black of Bristol, NH and Nicole Black of Manchester; step-brother, Christopher Black of Bristol, NH; paternal grandmother, Helmi Roehl of Dunbarton, NH; maternal grandmother, Beverly Vezina of Manchester; aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins.

The funeral service was held Monday April 17, 2006 in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations may be made in his memory to Hallsville School, Care of Library Department, 275 Jewett St, Manchester, NH 03103.
