Charles Garabed Hoosian of Belmont, MA, passed peacefully in his home on October 23, 2021, at the age of 92. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Isabel (Zabel Karadizian) Hoosian. Father of Rose Hoosian Moorachian, and her husband George; Lucy Hoosian; Grandfather to Luke and Faye Moorachian. Brother of the late Margaret (Hoosian) Maksabedian. Cousin to Shirley Hussian of PA. He is also survived by many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Charlie was a graduate of Watertown High School. He served honorably in the Korean War, while stationed in Japan. Charlie followed the footsteps of his parents in faith and service to his church and Armenian community. He was a dedicated member of St. Stephen’s Armenian Apostolic Church in Watertown, MA since its foundation and served on its Board of Trustees for many years. He volunteered his time and tirelessly worked for the church often doing little tasks that were overlooked. He supported various church and community organizations including the Armenian Youth Federation and dedicated many Wednesday nights, volunteering at ACEC Bingo.
Charlie lived a life of service to his family, his church, his community and his country. He will forever be remembered for being a dedicated and hard worker in every area of his life.
Visiting hours will be held at St Stephen's Armenian Church, 38 Elton Avenue, Watertown on Wednesday, October 27th from 10:00 am - 12noon to be immediately followed by a Funeral service at 12 noon. Interment at Mt Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, MA. In lieu of flower donations may be made to Saint Stephen’s Armenian Church.
The family requests all attendees be masked, fully vaccinated and COVID-19 symptom free. The Hoosian family is understanding of friends and family who cannot attend because of inability to comply with these requirements.
