Sylvia Jane Bowen Desormeaux, 74, of Tifton passed away Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Tift Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be held for Ms. Desormeaux at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, October 24, 2021, at Midway Church of God with the Rev. Phillip Brown officiating.
Born March 16, 1947, in Saint Petersburg, Florida, Ms. Desormeaux was the daughter of the late Edgar Raymond Bowen and Ruby Duncan Bowen. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Suzette Desormeaux and four brothers. She retired from Bond Secours and was also a medical transcriptionist. Earlier in her working life, she was also a ship fitter at Norfolk Navy Shipyard and a member of Midway Church of God.
She was a phenomenal woman, whose loyalty and love outweighed all others. She would give you the shirt off her back or the food on her table. She taught us never to give up and fight for what’s right. She loved with all of her heart as we love her with all of ours.
Ms. Desormeaux is survived by one son, Frank Cochran of Enigma; one daughter, Heather Desormeaux of Norfolk, Virginia; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Carol Bowen and Johnny and Marie Bowen; five grandchildren, Bri te Sedlack and her husband Michael, Brent Cochran, Kane Royal, Isabella Almaguer and Christopher King; and three great-grandchildren, Jasper King, Zayne King and Brittany Royal.
