LEICESTER: Richard "Dick" W. Stuart, 79 of Cherry Valley died Thursday, October 21 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a brief battle with cancer.
He leaves his wife of 58 years, Maureen A. (Connors) Stuart, two sons; Richard F. Stuart and his wife Jayne of Cherry Valley and Christopher M. Stuart and his wife Laura of Spencer, two daughters; Diane M. Frederico and her husband Mark of Tolland, CT and Deborah A. Umanzor of Sturbridge, a sister Patricia Walsh and her husband John of Leicester, ten grandchildren; Nicholas Frederico and his wife Shannon, Michael Frederico and his wife Maggie, Jenna Frederico, Andrew, Amanda & Alexa Umanzor, Samantha Chase and her husband Kenneth, Kristen, Joseph & Nicholas Stuart, four great grandchildren; Jacob, Owen & Melody Chase and Daphne Frederico, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother William Stuart and a sister Shirley Laprade.
Richard was born in Worcester, son of William and Ruth (LaRose) Stuart. He was a truck driver at Anderson-Dresser Trucking in Worcester, retiring in 2007. He graduated from Worcester Vocational High School. He was an avid golfer, and was a former member of Heritage Country Club and a member of Pine Ridge Country Club in Oxford. He was a volunteer at The Worcester Food Pantry. He enjoyed playing cards at the Irish Club.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Oct. 25 from the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, 1153 Main St., Leicester. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Leicester. Calling hours are Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. in the funeral home. The family request the use of masks or face coverings while in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charitable organization of choice.
