Obituary

Paul Bryan Dunn, 92, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Thursday, October 21, 2021, in the house he had lived in all of his life.

Graveside memorial services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald with the Rev. Chris Ramsey officiating. His longtime friend, Robert Leverson, will sing “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” at Mr. Dunn’s request.

Mr. Dunn was born June 8, 1929, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Ted N. & Tessie Myrick Dunn, both original settlers in the colony of Fitzgerald. He attended Third Ward Elementary School and graduated from Fitzgerald High School in 1947. He was a historian and author and a wonderful storyteller. He worked as a fireman and a trainman on the railroad and also farmed. Mr. Dunn worked in real estate and as a contractor built 27 houses. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church.

He is survived by several special friends including Denise Cribb, Bobbie Chancey, Lynn Helms, and Jack & Maurisa Paulk as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Morehead Dunn as well as a brother, Leonard Dunn.
