Lawrence M. LaValle
Retired Polaroid Research & Development Technician


TEWKSBURY: Lawrence M. LaValle, age 75, a longtime resident of Tewksbury, passed away at the Lowell General
Hospital on Tuesday, October 19, 2021.

He was the beloved husband of Diane E. (Letford) LaValle, with whom he would have celebrated their 50th wedding
anniversary on November 26, 2021.

Born in Cambridge on April 1, 1946, he was the son of the late Stephen LaValle and the late Margaret (Landers)
LaValle.

Lawrence was raised in Cambridge and Carlisle, MA. He attended local schools and graduated from Newman
Preparatory School in Boston. He later attended the University of Lowell (now UMass-Lowell)

In 1965, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War. Lawrence was awarded several
decorations for his service including the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense
Service Medal, the Good Conduct Service Medal, the M-14 Expert Rifle Marksmanship and Expert Pistol badges.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a Research & Development Technician by the Polaroid Corporation.

Lawrence’s primary hobby was to spend time with family and friends, the activity really didn’t matter as long as he
was with them.

In addition to his wife, Lawrence is survived by two children, Stephen T. LaValle and his wife Mary, of Hampstead,
NC; Jennifer L. Carbonneau and her husband Chris, of Dracut, MA; six grandchildren: Jack and Drew Carbonneau;
and Ethan, Noah, Madison, and Gavin LaValle; four siblings: The late Catherine VandeKerkhoff of Lowell, MA; the
late Stephen LaValle of Carlisle; Margaret Bjork and her late husband William of Pepperell, MA; Barbara Tonucci and
her husband Robert of Westford, MA; as well as his cousin and lifelong best friend Michael LaValle of Lowell, MA.
He also leaves many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Calling hours are Friday, October 22nd, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street,
Tewksbury, followed by a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. at the Tewksbury Cemetery, 172 East Street, Tewksbury. In
