Obituary

Rebecca “Becky” Knott, age 74 of Mabton, entered into rest on October 12, 2021 at Prosser Memorial Hospital. She was born on June 2, 1947 in Sunnyside, Washington to Salvador and Delores Mora. She lived in Sunnyside for many of her younger years. The family moved to Grandview where she resided until, at the age of 16, she decided to spread her wings and moved to California where she lived with many relatives for eight years. Altogether she lived most of her life in the Lower Valley.
Rebecca is survived by her husband, Dale Knott of Mabton; siblings, Rosemary Rodriguez of Pasco, Lupe Mora of Mount Vernon, Clara Mora of Puyallup, WA, David Mora of Burien, WA, Rudy Mora of Tacoma, WA, Gloria Gonzalez of Selah, WA, Josie Candanoza of Prosser, Richard Mora of Marysville, WA, Rita Anderson and Maggie Mora both of Puyallup, WA and Joe Mora of Grandview.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Salvador and Delores Mora and her brother, Jesse Anthony Mora.
Rebecca attended Central Washington University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree plus a 5th year in Education. She started as a teacher’s aide in Mabton where she met Dale. The couple married on December 24, 1981 at her parents’ home in Grandview. For the remainder years, she taught at Arthur H. Smith Elementary School in Grandview as a first-grade teacher. She was a born teacher who loved her students, always pushing for and encouraging their best efforts. She retired in 2016.
Rebecca was devoted to her family and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She also loved her cats dearly; they were like her children. Becky loved the beach in Lincoln City, Oregon and would visit often where she would walk on the beach for hours collecting agates and seashells. She was a person of Faith who attended Anchor Point Church in Grandview.
A private family viewing was held at Prosser Funeral Home.
