Rachel Pearson Barfield, 74, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center in Moultrie. A graveside funeral service will be held for Ms. Barfield at 4:00 p.m. Friday, October 22, 2021, at Oaky Grove Church Cemetery in Berrien County, where she will be laid to rest. The Rev. Don Fender will officiate.
Born May 21, 1947, in Berrien County, Ms. Barfield was the daughter of the late Ashley Pearson and Lorene Hamilton Pearson. She was also preceded in death by one son, George “Dean” Barfield, Jr., who passed away on February 2, 2021. Before retiring, she was a ward secretary at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Ms. Barfield is survived by one son, Daylon Barfield of Tifton; one brother, Buddy Pearson of Tifton; one sister, Linda Floyde of Tifton; one grandson, Luke Barfield; four nieces, Lucinda Floyde, Missy Langdale, Wendy Harris and April Jowers; three nephews, Kevin Pearson, Chris Pearson and Jason Pearson; and a dear friend, Emily Cheek, who she loved like a daughter.
