Luther Leston Denton, Jr., known lovingly as “L. L.”, 84, of Osierfield, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at the Irwin County Hospital in Ocilla, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Friday, October 22, 2021, at the Osierfield Cemetery, in Irwin County, Georgia, with the Rev. Sonny Pate and the Rev. Sammy Smith officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. Denton was born October 30, 1936, in Coffee County, Georgia, to the late Luther L., Sr. & Bernice Beatrice Faircloth Denton. He played basketball at Broxton High School and graduated with honors from The University of Georgia School of Pharmacy. He followed in his father’s footsteps as a pharmacist in Broxton, Douglas, Adel and Ocilla. He and his loving wife Madie made their life together for 45 years in Osierfield. Mr. Denton grew up attending church and teaching Sunday School at the First Baptist Church in Broxton and later at Holt Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, Daddy and Pa L. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Madie, as well as five children: Trey Denton (Wendy) of Statesboro, Trina Wilkerson (Steve) of Douglas, Nancy Ross (Jamie) of Ocilla, Anne Gretsch of Lexington and Troy Fletcher of Ocilla. Together he and Madie have 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
