Patricia A. (Nicol) Abell, 84, of Anderson, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Community Hospital Anderson, surrounded by her family. She was born on November 9, 1936 in Kewanee, Illinois, the daughter of Marvin J. And Marion M. (Arnold) Nicol.
Patricia was a 1958 high honors graduate of the University of Illinois with a bachelors degree in Home Economics. She was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority and served as president of her chapter.
She worked as a home economist in Chicago and Rockford, Illinois. At Swift & Company, Pat worked in the Martha Logan Kitchen developing recipes and meat products. She was active in the Anderson community serving as a Pink Lady at Community Hospital, working in the hospital gift shop, and as a member of the Women’s Medical Auxiliary. She was also instrumental in the founding of the “Meals on Wheels” Program in Anderson. Patricia was also an amazing cook who developed her own recipe for Yorkshire pudding that elevated any prime rib dinner. She also made a killer cherry cheesecake and extraordinary apple crisp that were fitting finales. All of her recipes will be forever cherished!
Patricia is survived by her husband, Dr. William Abell of Anderson; her two children, Susan (& Michael) Abell Owens of Idaho and Gregg (& Jena) Abell of Indianapolis; three grandchildren, Christopher Meredith, Abigail Meredith and Hudson Abell; her brother, John Nicol of Barrington, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Cremation has been chosen by the family with a memorial service to be held at a later date. Private interment will take place at East Maplewood Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Community Hospital in Patricia’s memory. Funeral arrangements were handled by Rozelle-Johnson Funeral service.
