Mrs. Hudson was born July 13, 1940, in Montgomery, Alabama, to the late John D. & Nellie F. Holley Tatum. She attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and was owner and operator of Hudson Realty. Mrs. Hudson was a member of Central United Methodist Church where she was active in the UMW.
She was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High school in Montgomery, Alabama where she was a majorette in the band. While in high school she was a fashion model for a local department store. She also graduated from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
She is quite possibly the only business woman in Ben Hill county to ever hold a live auction of real estate properties complete with professional auctioneer and gavel-ended sales.
In her middle years, she was quite fond of Broadway plays and would travel with a group from Fitzgerald or her son to NYC to see them.
In her retirement years, you could find her quietly helping families with children in need of food and school supplies. She treasured the handmade notes she often received back from the youngsters. Along with her husband, she supported the Uriah Welfare Organization, in Lahore, Pakistan, a Christian ministry in a Muslim country providing ministry, education, food relief and the freeing of brick kiln indentured servants whose children would otherwise grow up illiterate.
She is survived by her husband Dan Hudson of Fitzgerald and a son, Dan Hudson, Jr. & Kathleen of Gig Harbor, Washington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister.
