Little Compton, RI – Martha L. (Gifford) Moniz, 61, of Little Compton, RI, died Friday, April 14, 2006 at home with her family by her side. She was the widow of Manuel J. Moniz, Jr.
Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Joshua and Marion B. (Wilbur) Gifford, she was a lifelong resident of Little Compton. She was a Certified Nurses Aide for the Little Compton Nurses Association. Mrs. Moniz enjoyed gardening, farming, bird watching, quilting, and sewing and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include 2 sons: Nathan A. Lister of Portsmouth, RI and Aaron S. Moniz of Little Compton, RI; 2 daughters: Gretchen O. Freitas of Portsmouth, RI and Betsy L. Moniz of Newport, RI; a brother: Harold Gifford of Nebraska; 7 grandchildren: Marion Thomson, Andrew Thomson, Amanda Lister, Alyssa Arsenault, Matthew Arsenault, Bryanna Moniz and Nicole Lister; and several nieces and nephews.
She was sister of the late Arnold Gifford.
Memorial service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at the Potter Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M.

Interment will be private.
