CONCORD ---- Karl Lawson Nilges, Jr., 61, died suddenly at home on October 12, 2021, after a brief illness.
Karl was born on October 7, 1960, in Manchester, NH, the son of Elizabeth (DeBoer) and Karl Nilges, Sr. He was educated in the Pittsfield NH school system and retired from the NH Department of Corrections in December of 2020 after 28 years of service.
Karl enjoyed playing golf, collecting knives and swords, and spending time with his family. He was also an avid fan of all New England sports teams, and enjoyed watching them on television.
Survivors include his son, Karl Nilges III and girlfriend Audrey; two daughters Amanda Rodd and her husband Chris, and Nicole Therrien and her boyfriend David; seven grandchildren, Lily, Aiden, Benjamin, Ethan, Hannah, Noah and Damien; five sisters, Betty Fecteau and her husband Kenny, Debbie Gilman and her husband Bill, Karyl Hillsgrove, Mary Chayer and her husband Tom, and Donna Dandridge; two brothers, Sid Nilges and Erich Nilges; sixteen nieces and nephews; and his aunts, uncles and cousins. Karl was predeceased by his wife, Lana Nilges in 2019; his father, Karl Nilges, Sr. in 1992; his mother, Elizabeth Nilges in 2004; a sister, Kathy Downs in 2007; and a brother, Gary Nilges in 2016.
In honor of Karl’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
