Obituary

Ronald A. Stapleton passed away on October 13, 2021 at the age of 65. He was the loving husband of Sandra (Shurtleff) Stapleton, his high school sweetheart and soulmate. Ronald is also survived by his beloved mother, Rosa “Nana” (Costa) Stapleton; his three children, Sara Teves and her husband Jonathan, Jonathan Stapleton and his wife Heidi, and Mark Stapleton and his wife Valeria; and his three precious grandchildren, Landon, Jack, and Christian. He also leaves his two sisters, Cheryl Lawton and Donna Almeida; and multiple nieces, nephews, cousins, and Godchildren.

He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Stapleton.

Ronnie and his wife Sandy were the proprietors of the Nephew’s Restaurant in East Freetown since 1995. After working as a foreman at Raytheon for 13 years, he followed his lifelong dream to open a family restaurant after being inspired by his aunt Fay DiPiro, of Fay’s Knotty Pine, and his uncle, Mike Costa, of the original Mike’s Restaurant in Fairhaven. Ron was an inspiration to all who knew him and touched the lives of so many. He gave opportunities to those who had none and always saw the best in everyone. The community has truly lost a gentle giant.

Ron had an incredible work ethic and drive. He rarely slowed down, but when he did, the greatest joy in Ronnie’s life was spending time with his dear wife Sandy and his loving family.

His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday October 19, 2021 at 10 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Fairhaven. Visiting hours will be on Monday October 18 from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Christ Community Church, “New Campus Fund”, P.O. Box 325, East Taunton, MA 02718. For online condolence book, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
