Obituary

Limington, Maine- Douglas “Doug” John Hubbard, aged 74, passed away unexpectedly at his home on October 9th, 2021.

Born in Westbrook, Maine on March 4, 1947 to the late John and Beulah (Weeman) Hubbard, Doug was a member of the first graduating class of the new Bonny Eagle High School in 1965.

In 1966 he enlisted in the US Air Force, completing his basic training in Lackland Texas. He was stationed at Malstrom Air Force Base in Montana for the remainder of his enlistment. He kept in touch with his Montana Group service buddies throughout the years.

Upon returning home, Doug met and married his loving wife Sheila (Herrick) on March 24, 1973. This year they celebrated their 48th anniversary.

Doug was a self-employed master electrician for most of his adult life. From a young age he served as a volunteer firefighter, eventually becoming Chief of the Limington Volunteer Fire Department. He also served as a member of the Limington planning board, and was one of the founding members of the Heron Group.

Lovingly known as Pappy, Doug enjoyed spending time with his daughters and his twelve grandchildren. He loved to travel with his wife, touching hearts wherever they went. Doug was well known and well loved within his community and church, both of which he served faithfully throughout his life.

Doug’s family meant the world to him. He is survived by his beloved wife Sheila, and his daughters- Kimberly (Hubbard) Rhine and husband Andrew Rhine, daughter Tisha (Hubbard) Alexander and husband Monte Alexander, sister Janice Lewis, cousin “brother” Darryl Hubbard, grandchildren: Elijah, Douglas, & Samuel Rhine, Abigail (Rhine) Cornelius and husband Caleb Cornelius, Isaac, John, Josiah, David, Jude, Hannah, Chloe, & Simeon Alexander, and great grand daughter Drew Ann Cornelius.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 16, at 1 p.m. at the East Limington Baptist Church, 404 Sokokis Avenue, Limington, ME. Online condolences may be expressed at: www.mainefuneral.com
