WEBSTER - Rita V. (Alim) Zalewski, 92, died Friday, October 8, 2021 in Harrington Healthcare at Hubbard. Her husband of 49 years, Francis T. Zalewski, died in 1999.
She leaves 2 sons, William F. Zalewski and his wife Sue, and David A. Zalewski and his wife Kathleen, all of Dudley; a daughter, Karen J. Oliver and her husband George of Milwaukee, WI; a daughter-in-law, Diane Zalewski of Webster; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Paul M. Zalewski in 2011 and by her brother Romeo Alim.
Born on March 1, 1929 in North Grosvenordale, CT the daughter of Riza and Maryanne (Deslauriers) Alim, she grew up there and moved to Webster at the time of her marriage in 1950. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in North Grosvenordale in 1947.
Mrs. Zalewski was a homemaker. After raising her children she worked at the former Big D for 10 years before retiring to care for her grandchildren.
She was a communicant of Saint Louis Church and liked sewing, crafts and social gatherings. Her priority was always her family.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday, October 14, from the Sitkowski, Malboeuf and Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street, with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake Street. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home Thursday prior to the Mass.
