Helena J. (Desposito) Monty, 96, of Fairhaven passed away Monday September 27, 2021 at Alden Court Nursing Home after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late Leo W. Monty.
Born in Chelsea, the daughter of the late Angelo R. and Marianna (Ferioulo) Desposito, she lived in Fairhaven for seventy years. She had resided at the Atria for several years before moving to Alden Court last year.
She was a former parishioner of St. Joseph's Church.
Mrs. Monty was formerly employed as a licensed practical nurse for the Hartford Insurance Company.
A gifted singer, she had been associated with the New Bedford Harbor Sea Chantey Chorus, the Fairhaven Senior Choral Group, the St. Joseph's Church choir, and the Stetsonnaires.
She is survived by her daughters, Donna Monty Biscari, Phyllis L. Monteiro, Tomette R. Pereira, and Mary Ellen Healy; her siblings, Daniel Desposito, Grace Albanese, Ida Caferelli, and Louise Perkins; four grandchildren Leo C. Monty, Erin K. Andrew, Erica M. Yamfang, and Kyle Sullivan; seven great-grandchildren, Matthew C. Monty, Benjamin Monty, Boston Andrew, Sadie Andrew, Oden Healy Guerin, Dane Sullivan, and Logan Sullivan; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Frank Desposito and Phyllis Lima.
