Obituary

Linda J. (Fisher) Meredith, 72, of Fairhaven died Friday, October 8, 2021 unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the wife of Terrence P. Meredith with whom she shared 50 years of marriage.

Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Milton Owen Fisher and Doris (Hinkley) Fisher, she lived in Fairhaven for most of her life.

Mrs. Meredith was formerly employed as a special education teacher for 35 years until her retirement, with most of that time at Fairhaven High School.

She was a member of the West Island Improvement Association, the Fairhaven Improvement Association, and was a long-time Fairhaven Town Meeting Member. She was also the longest serving public affairs officer for the U.S. Coast Guard Flotilla 65, the largest flotilla in the United States.

Linda was an accomplished sailor, fencer and recreational scuba diver. She enjoyed trap shooting and target shooting and was the clinic coordinator for the Women's Instructional Shooting Clinic at the Fin Fur and Feather Club of Mattapoisett. She loved to travel, cruising, making stained glass crafts, and continued to sponsor the Fairhaven Improvement Association's annual lobster bake.

She is survived by her husband Terrence; her sister, Audrey Demers; her brother, Barry Owen Fisher and his wife, Valerie; her niece, Suzan Lenling; her nephews, Alan Demers and Stephen Demers; her sister-in-law, Kathleen Volterra and her partner, Karl Lindstrom; her brothers-in-law, Thomas Meredith and his wife Marjorie and Herbert Valeiro and his family; and her Goddaughters, Angela Meredith and Ronna Lima.

We will not see her like, again.

Her visiting hours will be held Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 4-7 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6), Mattapoisett. Services and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Linda's memory may be made to the Fairhaven Historical Commission Gift Account and mailed c/o Fairhaven Town Hall, 40 Center St., Fairhaven, MA 02719.
