Obituary

Lover of life James Timothy Tsiatsios passed away on October 4, 2021.

The eldest of four children, he was born in Manchester, New Hampshire on April 4, 1947, to first generation Greek Orthodox parents, Helen (Mandelos) and Timothy Tsiatsios. James built his life by hand and by design. Ever diving into manifesting dreams, he graduated from Manchester Memorial High School in 1965 and earned a Bachelor’s degree from Keene State College and Master’s degree from the University of New Hampshire. In addition, he became a self-taught master builder, craftsman, and mechanic. James was an avid outdoorsman and a world traveler. His most memorable trip was to Greece tracing his ancestral lineage with his three children in 2017.

He enjoyed many days fishing with his lifelong friend George and was a member of the Hampton River Boat Club. James was an avid skier spending many days on the slopes with his dearest friends, children and grandchildren. Along with his wife, James spent many hours cheering for the Red Sox and Patriots. He was a skilled bow and rifle hunter in the beautiful woods of New Hampshire and was a vintage car and RC airplane enthusiast as a member of the New Hampshire Flying Misfits.

James proudly taught Industrial Arts and STEM including computer drafting, woodworking, print making, robotics, metals, plastics, design, and auto mechanics for 25+ years at West High School, Memorial High School, Lebanon Junior High School, Pembroke Academy, and Goffstown High School. His passion for teaching and independent learning extended beyond the classroom. He looked for opportunities to empower others by passing on his knowledge and know-how. James took pride in teaching his children and grandchildren to ski, coached youth sports at Manchester Regional Youth Hockey Association, mentored his children as mechanics and builders, and encouraged his children to be strong, independent members of their community.

He served his country in the Air National Guard and Army National Guard, as well as being a volunteer firefighter in Dunbarton, New Hampshire.

James is survived by his life’s companion and deeply adored wife of 52 years Linda; children Kristen and her husband Nicolaas of Vashon, Washington; Christopher and his wife Carol of Garden Grove, California; and Timothy and his wife Erin of Manchester, New Hampshire. He will be forever loved and remembered by his five grandchildren James Victor, Japhy Luca Bel, Edan Purnam, Isla Elizabeth, and Isabella Brielle. He also leaves behind siblings George of Manchester, New Hampshire; Philip of Sheridan, Wyoming; and Constance of Attleboro, Massachusetts. He also had many treasured lifelong friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Richard Tedesco for his compassion and drive to return the “spark” to James' life.

In celebration of James' life, private services will be held for close family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Manchester, New Hampshire or Northeast Passage of Durham, New Hampshire.
